Sustainable New Construction / Entire Residence

Connecting with nature played a noteworthy role in the sustainable practices and interior design of the home.  The homeowners, design team and contractor where completely aligned with the owner’s sustainability goals. Design research and decisions were made with sustainability as the driving force along with utilizing USGBC LEED for Homes pilot program.

The design embraced and celebrated the natural setting of the site, the contemporary architecture and the owners’ color preferences. Interior finishes, furnishings and fabrics incorporated the preferred colors, sustainable objectives plus the couple’s desire for functional, comfortable, transitional interiors.

Throughout the home, FSC-certified walnut wood was used for flooring and cabinetry. Finishes met 3rd party certifications and criteria for eco-friendly products. Local craftsman were used to make many of the furnishings using sustainable methods and materials.

“When we began designing our home with Annette, we didn’t know what being green was. Annette made suggestions based on her passion for green design. We learned without really trying. She made it easy!’” – Bonnie H, client
